Massive Fire erupts in Boat at Papikondalu

West Godavari, May 11: In a ghastly incident, a major fire broke out in a boat at Papikondalu, Bhadrachalam here on Friday. No casualties were reported.

According to officials, a short circuit caused the fire mishap.

The boat was carrying nearly 80 passengers when the fire accident took place.

At least 80 passengers of a boat escaped from a fire in the boat in which they were traveling, at Veeravarapulanka, in West Godavari district. They all started off in the boat to Papikondalu, when the mishap occurred.

After 10 minutes into the river, fire started in the boat, leading to panic among the passengers. However, officials immediately stopped the burning boat and brought them back to the shore in another boat. The fire engulfed the boat and burnt it to ashes.
