TS Health Minister launches 145 New Ambulances

Hyderabad, May 09: The Telangana Health Minister C Laxma Reddy on Tuesday flagged off a new fleet of '108' ambulance vehicles from the Nizam College Grounds, in order to improve emergency health services across the State.

The new fleet of 145 ambulances will replace the same number of old ambulances in the existing fleet of 316 ambulances. Last year, 145 new ambulances were added to the fleet, replacing old vehicles.

Speaking on the occasion, Reddy said the new fleet of ambulances would improve emergency healthcare in the State.

"We are giving utmost importance to mobile health services. We earlier launched the '102' ambulance services exclusively to cater to pregnant women and newborns," Reddy said.

This apart, the government has introduced 108 bike ambulances which have been serving well in the streets of the city, he said adding that several two-wheelers were handed over to Auxillary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) for providing treatment in rural parts of the State.

Reddy went on to say that as part of the launch of new ambulances, 60 vehicles were equipped with advanced life support equipment.

Home Minister Nayini Narasimha Reddy lauded Health Minister and said that health sector in the State had improved a lot. "Upon the instruction of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, we are conducting eye test for everyone in the State", he said.

Later, Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali said the government had recently provided various equipment worth Rs 18 crore in MNJ Cancer Hospital. "Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is providing advanced facilities in government hospitals for the benefit of the public," he said.
