Another BJP MLA into controversy; Why BJP MLAs always?

Agar, May 06: Days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned party motormouths from supplying the media with "controversial news", a BJP MLA in Madhya Pradesh seems to have turned a deaf ear to the PM himself.

According to the sources, MLA Gopal Parmar on Saturday opined that the legal age of women attaining adulthood is the reason behind increasing number of cases of elopement and "love jihad".

Gopal Parmar, BJP MLA from Agar Malwa, said he supports early marriages because they last "forever".

"In families, we don't care enough for the girls and if she says she is going out to attend coaching classes and elopes with someone, our dignity is destroyed," Parmar said,

"Earlier, the elders of the family used to fix marriages in the childhood only and those relations used to last longer. Since the 18-year disease (legal age bar for a girl's marriage) has started, many girls have started eloping as the fever of love jihad has gripped," said Parmar.

"As the girls reach adolescence, their mind starts wandering. I urge the mothers to remain vigilant of the love jihad," Parmar said.

"I married as a child, and I ensured that marriages of my children — two daughters and a son — were fixed before they attained the legal age of marriage," Parmar said. "They are all happy."
