CM Naidu announces tough punishment for rapists

Guntur, May 05: The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu has visited Guntur GGH to console Dachepally rape case victim here on Saturday.

The Sources said, he spoke to the district collector and SP before visiting the hospital and gave strict orders to improve women safety measures and also to take stringent action on the accused. It is learned that Speaker Kodela has already visited the victim and gave financial assistance.

CM Chandrababu told to amend the laws and rules with regard to the punishment to the accused in sexual abuse and attacks on females. Chandrababu is planning to form 'She teams' at various levels including villages for the protection of women.

Mr. Naidu had announced that the government would award capital punishment to those who rape women and minor girls. He categorically stated that the government would not tolerate crime against women and anyone indulging in such crime will be given death punishment.

The State government had called for candle light rallies against the increasing crimes on women and girls on Monday. The Chief Minister said that he would participate in the protest rally in Vijayawada on the day to give a message that the government would go tough against the persons resorting to the crime against women.
