Government to target 65 lakh people for not filing income tax returns

New Delhi, April 30: The income tax department has turned its eye towards the people who are not filing their returns even though they have the income to pay the income tax.

The income tax department has decided to increase the number of income taxpayers as it has also been the motive of the demonetization.

Regarding this, the income tax department has also taken up to awareness programmes to increase the awareness of the people.There have been orders to the concerned department from the central government regarding this.

Due to this, there has been an increase of 1.5 crore new taxpayers in the previous financial year.with this boosting the department is now strictly focusing on those 65 lakh people who are not filing their returns.

the department has further stated that it's primary motive is to increase the number to 9.3 crores and take action against those who evade the tax.Of them 1.7 crore people failed to follow the regulations so they are to be contacted either through e-mails or sms etc.Again of this 1.07 crore people have filed their returns freely but remaining stayed back who are going to be approached directly.
