Huge amount of ganja seized in Vijayawada

Vijayawada, Apr 25: The officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) have seized 1,394 kg of cannabis (ganja), valued at about Rs. 2.09 crore. They arrested two persons in this connection.
The contraband was being smuggled from Sabbavaram village of Visakhapatnam district to Zaheerabad in Telangana.
On a tip-off, that ganja is being transported in a truck, the DRI officials intercepted the vehicle near Benz Circle on Monday, and found the prohibited narcotics drugs concealed under a load of casuarina wooden logs.
During the search, the DRI team seized ganja packed in 647 packets, in a separate space arranged behind the driver's cabin. The cannabis was seized under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
