Madhya Pradesh Minister urges centre to ban on Porn sites

Madhya Pradesh, Apr 23: Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Bhupendra Singh has written a letter to the Centre demanding a ban on pornogrpahic websites, which are responsible for rising incidents of rapes with minors.

"The Home Department has conducted a survey that has found porn websites as a major reason behind these offences. The regime had earlier closed down 25 porn sites but it has no direct control over it. I have urged the Centre to ban them and enact a tough legislation in this regard," Mr Singh told media here today.

His statement comes in the wake of rape and murder of a six-month-old girl in Indore two days ago. Welcoming the Centre's decision to award death penalty to child rapists, Mr Singh pointed out that the Madhya Pradesh Government has been the first to send a proposal in this regard.

Replying to a query, he admitted that laws alone are not sufficient to prevent such crimes. Nevertheless, tough laws are needed to control perpetrators. He hoped that the amendment would help reduce the number of such crimes.
