Santosh Gangwar says Sometimes Rapes Cant Be Stopped

New Delhi, April 22: Union minister Santosh Gangwar has said that one-or-two cases of rape in a country as big as India should not be hyped, he said here on today.

"Such incidents (rape cases) are unfortunate. However, sometimes you can't stop them. Government is vigilant everywhere, investigations are being conducted. In a nation as big as India, one or two incidents of rape should not be hyped, he said.

"I have said that media should not twist statement and act responsibly. This is very serious and sensitive matter. Our government under leadership of Shri Narendra Modi ji is very sensitive and it is government's progressive step to safeguard children and women. Ordinance is a step towards same."

Gangwar is a member of BJP and holds the charge of Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Labour and Employment.

A string of unspeakable sexual assault and murders of children reported over the past weeks has unleashed countrywide outrage. Much of it has been directed against the government for the alleged involvement of BJP leaders.

Leaders of the BJP have been trying to protect the accused in the rape and murder of an 8-year-old in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir. In the other case in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, the teen survivor has accused a BJP lawmaker and his brother of rape.
