ACB arrests Nizamabad RDO in disproportionate assets case

Nizamabad, Apr 22: In a tip-off, The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials have seized disproportionate assets worth about Rs 2.66 crore (Market value about Rs.5 crore) from Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO), Armoor Division in Nizamabad district.

In a statement here on Saturday, ACB said that Balay Srinivas, Revenue Divisional Officer (under suspension), Armoor Division, Nizamabad district was caught red handed when he demanded and accepted the bribe amount of Rs.40,000 from one B. Rajkumar on January 23, 2018 for showing official favour to allow him to run their water purification plants without ISI certification and to return the keys pertaining to seized water plants.

Consequent to the trap, searches were conducted at the residence of the DRO and his family members on January 23, 24, 29 and incriminating documents related to the assets, income and expenditure were seized.

The RDO acquired three independent houses, seven residential flats, four open plots during his service besides having a cash balance of Rs 47 lakh and Fixed Deposits worth Rs 60 lakh. Gold ornaments worth Rs 7.03 lakh, Household articles worth Rs 3.64 lakh, one Renault car, worth Rs 4 lakh and among others also seized.

Srinivas was already arrested in the trap case on January 23 and released on bail by the Court on March 20, the statement added.
