Delhi HC dismisses plea to reschedule CBSE economics re-test

New Delhi, Apr 16: In leakage of CBSE question papers row, The Delhi High Court has dismissed a petition on Monday that wanted the Central Board of Secondary Education to reschedule the re-examination of the Class 12 economics paper.

However, the court asked the board to submit the records related to its decision to not conduct a re-examination of the Class 10 mathematics exam, which was also allegedly leaked.

The central government faced massive backlash after the Class 10 mathematics and Class 12 economics question papers were leaked. The economics exam, which was held on March 26, will be conducted again on April 25, but the board has decided not to re-conduct the Class 10 mathematics paper after it found that the leak had had little impact on the results.

The petition was filed by a non-governmental organization, Suniya, seeking to either change the date of the re-examination or make it optional since several entrance exams, including those to engineering courses and the National Defence Academy, were scheduled around April 25, PTI reported.

A bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar said it was the CBSE's decision. "Whether to hold an exam or not, it is up to the CBSE. It is not up to the court to decide. It is outside our purview," the court said. "As you are saying NDA exam is clashing. If they again change the date, somebody else will come. On what basis a court can say hold the exam on this day and not on that day? It will be anarchy."
