Link Aadhar with IRCTC, Book 12 tickets at a time

New Delhi, Apr 17: Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has come up with a bumper offer for its passengers. As per the new set of rules, a user can book up to 12 tickets in a month. The person should have an Aadhaar verified ID along with at least one passenger also being verified through Aadhaar.

There is no need to do Aadhaar Verification for booking up to 6 tickets in a month, as earlier.

Prior to the booking, the user will have to link his IRCTC ID with Aadhaar. According to official statistics, when IRCTC launched its website in 2002, only 29 tickets were booked online on the first day. Today more than 1.3 million tickets are booked online via IRCTC’s portal every day. More than 20 million people commute via Indian Railways every day.

Adding to this, the IRCTC has released a notification, making some key changes to the guidelines to be followed at the time of online ticket booking:

# A user can book only 2 (reservation) tickets between 8:00 am to 10:00 am in the morning.
# Single Page and Quick Book services will be paused between 8:00 am to 12:00 noon
# Authorized agents can book the tickets from 8:00 am to 8:30 am, 10:00 am to 10:30 am, and 11:00 am to 11:30 am.

The latest move from the IRCTC restricts travel agents from booking Tatkal tickets for the first 30 minutes. This enables the commuters to book Tatkal tickets which usually finish within 3 to 4 minutes. IRCTC also increased the time limit for the OTP entering page by 10 seconds.
