Telangana People celebrates Easter with religious fervour

Hyderabad, Apr 01: Easter, signifying the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead three days after his crucifixion, was celebrated by Christians all over Telangana with religious fervour and usual enthusiasm on Sunday.

The day also marks the end of the 40-day Lent period of fasting, prayer, and penance by devout Christians.

Since dawn, Christians thronged churches and offered prayers during special services. Joyous scenes were seen soon after the prayers with the people greeting each other "A Happy Easter".

Larger congregations were seen at bigger churches like St.Mary's Basilica, Methodist, Wesley, All Saints, St.Johns and St.George in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

Christians offered "Easter egg", a sweet delicacy specially prepared on Easter, to relatives and friends.
