NIMS College PG student commits suicide

Hyderabad, Mar 26: In a drastic incident, A 31-year-old post-graduate student of Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his hostel room on Sunday morning.

According to the police, P Shiva Teja, a native of Tanuku in West Godavari district, was studying post-graduation first year in Neurology department at NIMS.

The incident occurred between 5.30 am and 7.30 am when Teja was alone in the hostel room and his friends had gone out on personal work.

D Srikanth Goud, Sub-Inspector, Panjagutta said information was received around 7.45 am and a team rushed to the spot.

Police are yet to ascertain the reasons behind Teja’s extreme step and have consulted the family members for details about of him and about his previous education. No suicide note was found, the police said.

Based on a complaint, police have booked a case under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code and shifted the body to Gandhi Hospital morgue for autopsy.

The body would be kept for preservation until Teja’s parents, who had gone to the US to meet their daughter, returns to the city by Tuesday, Goud said.
