PV Sindhu to be Indias flag-bearer at CWG

Hyderabad, Mar 24: Here is the good news for the Indian Fans, as the Rio Olympics silver medallist PV Sindhu will be Indian contingent's flag-bearer at the opening ceremony of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, according to IOA sources.

Reports in the Indian Express say, that 22-year old was picked ahead of the likes of Mary Kom and Saina Nehwal due to a 'better colour of the medal at the Olympics' and her recent performances.

The opening ceremony of the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games will be held at the Carrara Stadium in Gold Coast on April 4.

World No. 3 Sindhu is one of the favorites to win the badminton women's singles title in Gold Coast after reaching the semi-finals of the All England championships last week.

Sindhu had earlier won a bronze medal bronze in the 2014 edition of the multi-sport event.
