Rs. 500 crores by Telangana Govt

Hyderabad December 8 : Telangana government has been planning to develop the school infrastructure across all districts. The ministry of human resource development (MHRD) has granted the Rs.500 crores under the scheme of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan (SSA) and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyaan (RMSA).

The decision was taken at a meeting between education minister Kadiyam Srihari and Union human resource development minister Prakash Javadekar at Shastri Bhavan in New Delhi on Tuesday.

In press release issued at the Srihari's office, the minister urged Javadekar to grant additional funds for the 21 new districts in the state.

"The Minister urged Javadekar to set up Navodaya Vidyalayas and Kendriya Vidyalayas in the newly formed districts.

He briefed the Union minister about the Telangana government's KG to PG scheme. He also expressed interest in setting up Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas and teacher training centres in 110 newly formed mandals," said the release.

Meanwhile, Telangana education minister Kadiyam Srihari also visited various villages in the North-Eastern state to study the success of literacy programme. He observed the three day programme in those states which has a literacy rate of close to 97%.

Telangana has a literacy rate of 66% as per 2011 Census. So, the education minister is planning to follow the Tripura model of education to achieve better literacy.
