Hyderabad Metro Works speed up on JBS-MGBS stretch

Hyderabad, Mar 21: The Hyderabad Metro Works are going on at a brisk pace between Jubilee Bus Station (JBS) and Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS), Hyderabad Metro Rail authorities are gearing up for engineering challenges in the execution of the project on this stretch.

This 10-km stretch is part of the 15-km Metro Corridor II from JBS to Falaknuma which has one end crisscrossing the old city. Presently, Metro Rail works are going on between JBS and MGBS while the stretch between MGBS and Falaknuma is to be taken up.

About 343 pillars are to be laid on the JBS to MGBS stretch of which 338 pillars have been laid. Balance works pertaining to pillars are at an advanced stage of completion, said Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) officials.

Ten stations, including two interchange stations, one at Parade Grounds, which is already operational, and another at MGBS, are coming up on this stretch. Property and land acquisition in key areas such as Musheerabad, RTC X roads, Chikkadpally, Narayanguda and other areas was already completed.

HMRL is presently in the process of acquiring properties at Badi Chowdi, Sultan Bazar and Putlibowli.

“About 130 properties are to be acquired in these areas and we are in the final stages of completing the process,” said HMRL Managing Director NVS Reddy.

HMRL authorities have been facing engineering challenges in executing works on the JBS-MGBS stretch. The narrowest point through which the Metro viaduct is getting set up is 66 feet at Sultan Bazar while the widest road used so far is 200 feet.
