5000 villages go cashless

Hyderabad December 8: Telangana Panchayat Raj Minister says that the State Government is now focusing the cashless transactions for entire state including urban areas and Semi urban areas.

Most of the Telangana Villages doesnotinsist any bank branches. In order to overcome the issue, the bank management will tie up with the nearest bank branches for the people who doesn't own bank accounts.

It is observed that, in Telangana region over 36 lakhs Aasara pensioners are there. In which 4.5 lakhs of Assara Pensioners doesn't have bank account.

Nearly about 5000 villages doesn't have banking services in available.

In one of the meeting, the minister said to that "we have asked the bankers to adopt these 5000 villages and provide banking services from the nearest branches".

The process will be completed by January 10th. And from the January 11th all the village panchayats in the state will start cashless transactions.

In order to implement this transactions, POS and swiping machines would be provided to all the panchayat raj villages enabling them to accept payment of bills at panchayats through this cashless mode.

By Using this, we can pay the bills like water cess, property tax etc.

Highlights of this agenda

* We have 18016 bank braches in rural area

*1192 branches in semi-urban area.

*5000 villages with no branches will be tied up with nearby banks.

*35.96 lakhs Aasara pensioners in the state

*In this 17.81 Aasra pensioners have tied p with post offices

*13.65 lakh pensioners have bank accounts.

*4.52 lakh pensiones will be also bank account soon
