BJP Leading In Gorakhpur, Samajwadi Party In Phulpur

Bihar, Mar 14: The by-election results for two Lok Sabha constituencies in Uttar Pradesh Gorakhpur and Phulpur will be declared today.

Counting of votes for the Gorakhpur and Phulpur Lok Sabha by-elections began at 8 am. As of 10:30 am, the BJP is leading in Gorakhpur and the Samajwadi Party is leading in Phulpur.

Samajwadi Party candidate Nagender Singh Patel is leading by 1,058 votes in Phulpur Lok Sabha seat, while the BJP continues to maintain its grip in Gorakhpur.

SP's Nagender Singh Patel has secured 22,460 votes so far, with BJP candidate Kaushalendra Singh Patel trailing with 21,402 votes in Phulpur, which consists of Phaphamau, Soraon, Allahabad North, Allahabad West and Phulpur regions. In Gorakhpur, BJP candidate Upendra Datt Shukla is 3,000 votes ahead of the SP candidate Praveen Nishad.

The by-polls were necessitated after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya vacated the Gorakhpur and Phulpur Lok Sabha seats respectively following their election to the state legislative council.
