Centre shock to AP Over Railway Zone

Vizag Mar 13: In a major disappointment for Andhra Pradesh people the Centre has rejected the proposal for setting up a Special Railway zone in the state of AP with Vizag as Headquarters.

The Decision in this regard was informed to state Government officials by union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba. He has said that Recently Railways had submitted a report and the report clearly indicated that the New Railway zone wouldn't be feasible and there would be no revenue generated.

Union Home Ministry officials have held a meeting with officials of both AP and TS and discussed various aspects of the implementation of AP Reorganisation ACT.

Many people have expressed shock over this decision as there were reports just a few days back that govt was positive on the creation of a Railway zone and was having discussions with various stakeholders.

Experts said that this decision was taken as Odisha has objected the creation of railway zone as major revenue comes from Walther division located in the state and also because of the ongoing rift between TDP and BJP.
