India ranked 81 in Global Corruption Perception Index 2017

London Feb 23: A global Agency has revealed the Transparency International's Global Corruption Perception Index 2017 report. The Report is a measure to know the status of corruption prevalent in Major countries in the world. According to the report, any country which has a scale of below 30 are considered most corrupt. The total scale is for 100.

India has scored 81 Rank and Has secured 40 points in scale. The Country has slipped 3 places from last year ranking of 79.Officials said that the country has slipped in ranking because of addition of one new country and some countries improved slightly.

The report adds that "India is among the worst regional offenders in the Asia Pacific region on grounds of journalists, activists, opposition leaders and even staff of law enforcement or watchdog agencies being threatened or even murdered."

The report has also said that "These countries score high for corruption and have fewer press freedoms and higher numbers of journalist deaths."
