Monorail in Warangal Soon

Warangal Feb 23: The Warangal City would get another prestigious transport System. The Authorities are planning to introduce Monorail in The city between Kazipet and Warangal.

In order to study the feasibility report a seven-member team from Intamin Transportation, a Switzerland based monorail company, and three other companies visited Warangal on Thursday.

The team accompanied by Mayor N Narender and officials of the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) have visited Rampur, Kazipet, Pochamma Maidan and Venkatrama theatre localities in the city as a part of their study.

The officials have spoken to media and said that "the length of monorail project was 12 km starting from Kazipet to Venkatrama theatre in Warangal.The estimated project cost is Rs 1,300 to Rs 1,400 crore. It will be completed in 18 months since the execution of the project".

They added that "If everything goes on the expected lines, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed between Telangana and Intamin Transportation.It is said that the monorail transports 5,000 persons per hour. Four to five monorails will be plied and each train would carry 80 to 100 passengers".
