76 % polling in Tripura Elections

Agartala Feb 19: The elections in Tripura have been concluded on Sunday and the polling percentage was recorded as 76 percent.The total number of voters in the Tripura stood at 25.73 lakh.

Officials have said that "The polling for 59 seats of the 60-member Assembly was peaceful with thousands of central paramilitary forces fanning across the northeastern state.Polling could not be held in the Charilam constituency due to the death of CPI(M) candidate Ramendra Narayan Deb Barma last week. The constituency will go to polls on March 12."

Deputy Election Commissioner Sudip Jain has said that "In the last Assembly elections, the voter turnout was recorded at 91.82 percent, while in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, it was 84.32 percent".

Earlier PM Modi has urged youth to come out in large number and vote in the elections.
