7.2 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Mexico

Mexico Feb 17: A natural disaster took place today.A powerful magnitude-7.2 earthquake shook south and central Mexico Friday.Many people have fled the buildings and office towers in the country's capital.

The epicenter was in a rural area close to Mexico's Pacific coast and the border with Guerrero state. Sources said that no people have died in the earthquake.

The U.S. Geological Survey has said that "the magnitude of the earthquake as 7.2.The epicenter was 33 miles (53 kilometers) northeast of Pinotepa in southern Oaxaca state. It had a depth of 15 miles (24 kilometers)."

The Mexico Government has said that no severe damage has taken up and advised people to remain safe.
