Tirumala, Feb 16: According to recent reports, a man has been caught with a gun at Alipiri check-post in Tirumala. Vigilance officers have taken a man traveling to Tirumala while carrying a pistol in his car.

During the routine checks, they found that a person identified as Pani from Odisha was in possession of an unlicensed gun. The gun was attached below the steering wheel. The officials also recovered two bullets from him.

They told that Panigrahi has been accused in many cases. Officers said that he was carrying pistol illegally without any license. But Panigrahi's version differs as he said he was carrying pistol for self-defence & security purpose.

There are at least two past instances where guns were recovered from the possession of pilgrims. In both the case, the pilgrims were from North India. Pani too is from Odisha.
