Trump to increase taxes on Motor cycle imported from India

Washington Feb 16: US President Trump has reacted to the imposition of taxes on bikes imported to India which are manufactured in the US. The president has said that he would also increase the taxes that need to be paid by Indian manufacturers who export bikes to US .

Trump has said that "Currently when we ship products out of America, many other countries make us pay very high tariffs and taxes. But when foreign companies ship their products into America, we charge them nothing or almost nothing".

He added that " the recent decision of the Indian government to reduce the tariff from 75 percent to 50 percent was not enough and asked that it should be reciprocal, as the US imposes "zero tax" on the import of motorcycles."

President has also said that "We have so many countries where we made a product, they make a product, ..We pay a tremendous tax to get into their countries -- motorcycles, Harley Davidson it goes into a certain country. I won't mention the fact that it happens to be India, in this case".

Finally, he has said that "So, I say, we should have reciprocal taxes for a case like that. I'm not blaming India. I think it's great that they can get away with it. I don't know why people allowed them to get away with it. But there's an example that's very unfair. I think we should have a reciprocal tax."
