Karnataka,West bengal say No to Modi's health care scheme

Bengaluru Feb 16: One more state has dropped out of the ambitious health care scheme announced by the center in its budget. Karnakata has opted for the modicare health scheme after West Bengal government has opted out of the scheme citing financial constraints.

Under the scheme announced in budget nearly 10 crore families or 50 Cr people would be provided Rs 5 lakh for the health treatment undergone by them.

The Congress-ruled state had opted out and said that "We are already a step ahead of (Prime Minister) Modi.The state government, already has a universal health scheme."

The remarks assume significance because recently West Bengal government has also opted out of the scheme citing similar reasons.

Expert said that Karnataka Government had also opted out because of upcoming elections and they might think of it after the election results are announced.
