SC Delivers verdict on Cauvery water TN to get 177 TMC,Bengaluru gets 4 .7 TMC water

New Delhi Feb 16: The Supreme Court on Friday has delivered a Key long-standing issue of cauvery river water sharing between Karnataka and Tamilnadu states.

The SC has said that " no one state can claim ownership of a river, and rivers are national treasure ". The Court had pulled up Karnataka Government for not releasing water to Tamilnadu even after the court verdict.

The court in its judgment has ordered the Karnataka government to release 177 TMC of Cauvery water to Tamilnadu and the Kannada state would get an increased allocation of 14.75 TMc water and Bengaluru city would get an additional 4.7 TMC water which would be used for drinking purposes .

The Total allocation of Karnataka is now 284.5 TMC.There were no changes in the allocation for Kerala and Puducherry. earlier Cauvery tribunal had allocated 30 TMC to Kerala and 7 TMC to Pudducherry.
