Indian Railways book cases against 18500 Corrupt officials in past 3 years

New Delhi Feb 12: Indian Railways last week in parliament has revealed some crucial data and according to the data revealed Indian railways in last 3 years have booked more than 18,500 railway officials across the country in corruption cases.

Officials have said that "Northern Railway topped the charts with 6,121 officials under the scanner during 2015 to 2017, the Chennai-headquartered Southern Railway emerged second with 1,955 cases."

Sources said that Railways has booked cases under "Railway Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1968." Officials have said that "The internal mechanism of decoys, preventive checks, and investigating complaints have been upgraded and have become online and videos of Travelling Ticket Examiners taking money for giving berths are also accepted to act against them".

The CVC's 2017 report said that around 11,200 complaints were received against railway employees in 2016, the highest in the list of complaints against officials of central government agencies.
