AAdhar - A Double Edged sword

New Delhi Feb 11: Unique identification system main aim was to deliver welfare benefits without misuse to people of the country. Especially for the last two years we are seeing the use of Aadhar application
branching each and every government activity.

Central, as well as state governmnts, have linked Aadhar with various services. Some Private companies are also utilizing this for employment recruitment purposes. Some Schools are taking the biometric facility in children's administration purposes also. There seems no end for the demand of Aadhar.

Currently, banks ask Permanent Account Number (PAN) and Aadhar for opening an account..Many people who are the beneficiaries of the government schemes feel that the government is the intrusion of the privacy.

Meanwhile, the recent judgment by the supreme court that Right to privacy is a Fundamental right has also given impetus to growing criticism.

The Central Government has time and again sought to ally the fears of people about the misuse of the biometric details and has said that there are clear provisions in the Aadhar act which mandate a strict provisions such as fine and jail term for 3 years if any agency violates the act and misuses the data. The govt has also said that Linking Aadhar with various schemes has saved nearly Rs 60,000 cr of public money.

Finally Public still fear to give their Aadhar details because of Increasing cybercrime.Lets wait what the supreme court decides in this issue.
