KTR: One lakh 2BHK houses to be constructed in this year

Hyderabad, Feb 11: The Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao on Saturday said that the state government has targeted to construct one lakh double-bed room houses by this year-end.

Speaking after laying the foundation stone for 800 double-bedroom houses at Gandhinagar, Maredpally, Secunderabad, Mr. Rama Rao said as per election promise, the state government would construct one lakh double-bed room houses by this year end and hand over to the homeless poor.

Mr. Rama Rao said that the state government has taken up this prestigious project to construct 2.75 lakh double-bed room houses across the state at a cast of Rs 18,000 crore. The government has taken up this project aimed to protect self-respect of poor people, he said.

The amount spending on the housing project (double-bedroom house) by the Telangana government was equal to all 28 states in the country as far as spending to the housing projects, Mr. Rama Rao said.

Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mahamood Ali, Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy, Animal Husbandry Minister Talabani Srinivas Yadav, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner Janardhan Reddy and among others took part in the event.
