Maldives wanted to send first special envoy to India

New Delhi, Feb 08: According to the Maldivian ambassador President Abdulla Yameen wanted to send special envoy to India first rather than any other country but Indian side didn't find the dates suitable. But according to New Delhi officials, no action was taken by Maldives on India's concern over political crisis in the country.

Special envoys have already been sent to countries like China, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia by the President Yameen to brief them about the deepening political crisis in the country.

"India was in fact the first stop planned and proposed for a visit of a special envoy of the president of Maldives. However, the dates proposed were not suitable for the Indian leadership," Maldivian envoy Ahmed Mohamed said.
