Filing of nomination papers ended for Meghalaya Assembly elections

Shillong, Feb 08: The filing of nomination papers for the Assembly elections in Meghalaya scheduled on February 27 came to an end yesterday with a total of 443 candidates filed their nomination papers.

"The filing of nomination was completed without any incident or complaint reported from any part of the state," Chief Electoral Officer Frederick Roy Kharkongor told media.


Chief Minister Mukul Sangma and his cabinet colleagues have also filed their nomination seeking re-election.

Dr Sangma filed his nomination papers from assembly constituency – Ampati and Songsak - in Garo Hills region.

Nine of the Cabinet ministers have filed their nomination as Congress nominees.
