Justice Loya death case: Lawyers argue in court; SC warns them

New Delhi, Feb 05: During the hearing of cases relating to the death of special CBI judge BH Loya, heated arguments took place between lawyers after which the Supreme Court has warned the lawyers and said that courtroom should not be reduced to a level of fish market.

CBI judge BH Loya was hearing fake encounter case of Sohrabuddin Sheikh and was died allegedly of cardiac arrest in Nagpur on December 1, 2014 when he had gone to attend the wedding of a colleague's daughter. But many political parties and others have argued that this is not a normal death after which the case was opened in court.

During the hearing "Let us not reduce the dialogue in this court to the level of a fish market. You should not shout down a judge who is saying something. You will have to listen to me, Mr Dave... You address when your turn comes," Justice D Y Chandrachud, who was part of the bench presided over by Chief Justice Dipak Misra, told Dave, representing Bombay Lawyers Association.

"No, I will not. Your Lordships should have stopped them (Pallav Shishodia and Harish Salve) from appearing in this case. You will have to answer your conscience," Dave retorted.

"Don't teach us about our conscience," the bench, which also comprised Justice A M Khanwilkar, responded.
