Special Scheme to tackle Pollution in Delhi Announced

New Delhi Feb 2: Finance minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday has presented the budget.The Finance Minister for the first time had a special focus on pollution of the Delhi.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has said that "Air pollution in the Delhi-NCR region has been a cause of concern." He added that " A special scheme will be implemented to support the efforts of the governments of Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi to address air pollution and to subsidize machinery required for in-situ management of crop residue".

FM has also said that "the central government will come up with a special scheme to subsidize machinery to let farmers use the crop stubble rather than burn them."


His announcements assumes significance because the pollution levels in the Delhi have grown rapidly and many schools were declared holidays after Diwali and the situation had even become
worse in December where the Cricket match between India and Srilanka was also affected and players wore the mask while playing test.

Many people have said that currently pollution in Delhi is caused because of Burning of crop stable and farm residues and many state governments have sought help from the central government
to tackle the growing pollution.
