Capital of Telangana gets a glimpse of Super Blue Blood Moon

Hyderabad, Feb 01: Skywatchers around the world were treated to a rare Super Blue Blood Moon on (Jan. 31). While this was the first time in over 150 years that this particular type of eclipse has happened in the U.S., Americans can look forward to another "blood moon" eclipse coming on Jan. 21, 2019.

Coming to India, The Super Blue Blood Moon was first visible at 6.36 pm in Hyderabad.

Hundreds gathered at the observatory laboratories set up at Chandrayangutta, Tank Bund in Hyderabad on Wednesday to catch a glimpse of the super bigger, brighter and closer full moon.

Children caught the glimpse of the celestial event from the building of Telangana Minority Residential School at Chandrayangutta.

The celestial show is the result of the Sun, Earth, and Moon lining up perfectly for a lunar eclipse just as the Moon is near its closest orbit point to Earth, making it appear "super" large.
