First round of Pulse Polio Program observed Successfully in Telangana

Hyderabad, Jan 29: The Telangana Chief Secretary S P Singh on Sunday launched the first round of Pulse Polio programme by administering Polio drops to children in the premises of Basti Davakhana (Government Hospital) at Prashasan Nagar, Jubilee Hills, which is under construction.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Singh said this round was aimed to cover nearly 36.56 lakh children in the age group of 0-5 years in the entire state, of which around 3.98 lakhs would be covered in Hyderabad alone.He said around 22,768 Polio booths were set up to carry out this task, while 787 mobile teams were also formed at 737 points to cover children those identified as high risked.

He said that the programme would continue for two more days to cover the children those left out.He complemented teh officials of Medical and Health Department for making concerted efforts to make this programme a success, besides creating massive awareness among parents.

Medical and Health Principal Secretary, Shanta Kumari, Family Welfare Commissioner Ms. Karuna Vakati, District Collector Mrs. Lalita Kumari and among others took part in the programme.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari launched Pulse Polio programme after administering Polio drop at the Government Hospital, Warangal.
