International court fixed date for Kulbhushan Jadhav case

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Tuesday fixed the dates for India and Pakistan to file written pleadings in the Kulbhushan Jadhav case. While India will have to file its pleading by April 17, 2018, Pakistan will have to do that by July 17 this year.

In May last year, the International Court of Justice had asked Pakistan to do all in its power to prevent the execution of Kulbhushan Jadhav, who was sentenced to death by the country's military court for alleged subversive activities.

India had approached the ICJ against Jadhav's sentencing contending that Pakistan had violated Article 36 of the Vienna Convention as it repeatedly denied consular access to the former Indian naval officer.
