TS Govt finalizing 10 multi-level car parking facility in city

Hyderabad, Jan 23: The Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar has said there was an urgent need to create more parking space and government is in the process of finalizing atleast 10 Multi-level car parking facility in the city.

Parking lots would also be developed both by government agencies and private developers on Public Private Partnership (PPP) model, he said.

Mr Kumar who reviewed on parking policy said that Hyderabad city has an increase in traffic and number of vehicles including private vehicles especially cars and two wheelers. With around 700 vehicles being added to Hyderabad roads each day, increasing traffic and parking woes are causing hardships to the people.

With the existing limited parking spaces available with the government and the fact that multi-level parking, though under process, might take some more time, the situation is resulting in lack of proper parking places which is in haphazard and often uncontrolled street parking of vehicles which not only create chaos and congestion but are also often dangerous.

Municipal administration Minister KT Ramarao in a recent meeting has expressed concern over lack of proper parking places and that there is an immediate need to operationalize the GO issued on July 7, 2017.

The Government has accordingly decided to invite proposals from owners of the private plots for conversion of their open and vacant lands for off-street parking facilities on the lines as mentioned above, an official statement quoting Mr Kumar said.
