Aviation Minister inaugurated Air India flight service from Vijayawada to Mumbai

Hyderabad, Jan 20: The Union Minister for Civil Aviation P Ashok Gajapathi Raju inaugurated Air India flight service to Mumbai at Gannavaram Airport, near here, on Friday.

The Air India, in the wake of huge passenger rush to financial capital Mumbai from Vijayawada, has launched Vijayawada-Mumbai Boeing 737-800 flight services. The Air India announced that it would extend the service to Dubai in future.

Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister said that International Airport status would be accorded to the Gannavaram Airport soon.

The immigration and customs divisions are being set up in the airport, he said and informed that the cargo service would be launched at the Airport within a month. The required equipment and cables are being installed in the Airport as part of upgrading it as International Airport, Mr. Raju said.

A policy is being formulated on sea flights and drown operations. MPs Kesineni Srinivas, K Narayana, MLAs V Vamsi Mohan, G Rammohan and Bode Prasad were present.
