CM KCR launches Mobile ambulances

Hyderabad, Jan 17: The Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has launched a slew of mobile medical services on Wednesday, aimed at strengthening outreach health care services in the State.

The existing Amma Vodi scheme with a fleet of 41 ambulances has now been upgraded to 200 more vehicles that will be functional across the State. The ambulances, to be manned by an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and ASHA worker, will provide a gamut of medical services related to Mother and Child Care.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated 50 bike ambulances, which will be operated by trained EMTs in Hyderabad and elsewhere. Dubbed as 'First Responders', the bike ambulances essentially are meant to reach accident spots faster than the traditional 108 ambulances and provide emergency medical help to patients.

On the occasion, 'Project Rekkalu' aimed at providing mobility support to female Multipurpose Health Care Assistant (MPHA) was also inaugurated. The MPHAs were provided with two-wheelers (Honda Activa) to provide various kinds of medical services at the doorsteps.
