Chidambaram on Aadhaar security: BJP govt locking stable after horses ran away

New Delhi, Jan 11: Government's new move to secure Aadhaar data seems to be meaningless as the data was already misplaced, displayed openly on government sites and breached by others.

Congress leader P Chidambaram said on Thursday, that new move by the government to secure data is like locking the stable after horses have ran away.

A new Aadhaar data protection method was introduced by UIDAI in which a virtual ID is given to Aadhaar card holders which they can submit to service providers and others instead of using original Aadhaar id.

"Under compulsion, millions of persons have already shared Aadhaar number with many service providers. New security layer is like locking the stable after horses have bolted," the former finance minister tweeted.
