West Godavari, Jan 11: Here is another hurdle for the Polavaram Project has raised here on Thursday. As the AP state government began works of Upper Coffer Dam, the staff and workers at the project site have boycotted the work from today after they are not given their payments from the last three months.
It is already known that the contractor, Transtrroy is in a deep financial mess and also defaulted the repayment of loans to banks. For this reason, the state government also convinced the center to allow to call tenders for a few works separately.
Center has agreed to that after about two months of deliberations. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is keen to complete the Upper Coffer Dam works which will ensure that the water is given through gravity in this year itself.
It will also help TDP in the 2019 elections. The state government officials are already into action to ensure that the work resumes.
