Drunken driving claims another girls life, Car rams divider

Hyderabad, Jan 10: Here is a drunk driving has claimed another life in the city during wee hours of Tuesday. A 21year-old University of Hyderabad student Ananya Goel was killed when the car she was traveling turned turtle after the vehicle's driver lost control of hitting a median.

The accident occurred at around 3.30 a.m. near Burjguda Thanda in Shamshabad police station limits. The hatchback was being driven by Jetin Pawar, a 24-year-old techie working in Hyderabad. Along with his friends, Ananya Goel and Nikitha Bansal, Mr. Pawar celebrated his birthday in Gachibowli before heading for a long drive by taking the Outer Ring Road. They were headed towards Bengaluru highway for a long drive when the accident occurred.

"Jetin lost control and the vehicle went over the median before it flipped on to the other side of the road. Ananya, who was seated in the back, received head and chest injuries. She was declared brought dead at the hospital," Shamshabad SI Mohammed Ahmed Pasha, said. Ananya, a post-graduate student of political science, hailed from Uttar Pradesh.

The police suspect the driver was speeding under the influence of alcohol. They found empty liquor bottles in the immediate vicinity of the crash spot."Blood samples of the injured have been collected to determine whether they had consumed liquor," Mr. Pasha added.

Following the crash, Mr. Pawar, who escaped unhurt, called the police. A police patrol team arrived to help retrieve the injured and rushed them to the hospital, where Ananya was declared brought dead.

A case of causing death due to negligence by a rash act was registered against Mr. Pawar After the autopsy, the victim's body was handed over to the family.
