APCC leaders Polavaram Padayatra reaches West Godavari

West Godavari, Jan 09: The padayatra of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) demanding the government to complete the Polavaram irrigation project by 2018 reached Kovvuru from Rajamahendravaram on Monday.

The padayatra entered West Godavari district from Rajahmundry through Road-cum- Rail bridge across River Godavari.

The yatra, led by PCC president N Raghuveera Reddy, former Union minister MM Pallamraju, Rajya Sabha member KVP Ramachandra Rao, PCC spokesman N Tulasi Reddy was welcomed by DCC president Md Rafiullah Baig, and other leaders at Kovvuru.



The PCC chief while addressing the media alleged that the TDP and BJP were playing political games for their self-interests on Polavaram project. He alleged that the Centre had not given clearance to the technical designs and the cofferdam.

"It is nothing but the difference over the sharing kick-backs," he said. He claimed that Polavaram was Congress project, not of TDP nor BJP The Congress started the work decades ago and done half of the work already.
