Class 9 girl commits suicide due to harassment

Sanga Reddy, Jan 09: Here is drastic incident has occurred while a 9th class student succumbed to death on Monday while undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital for the burns she sustained on January 2 when she attempted suicide by setting herself ablaze after dousing in kerosene at her house in Domadugu village.

The information reported that The deceased was identified as Lavanya, a class nine student of Pragati High School in Domadugu of Gummadidala mandal in Sangareddy district. The cause for the girl taking the extreme step is attributed to sexual harassment by a 15-year-old Suraj of the same school.

Though the girl complained about the harassment to teachers and school management, no action has been taken against Suraj, who is accused of harassing the girl for the last six months.

The Police have registered a case against Suraj and sent the body for Postmortem.
