Trump says ready to talk with North Korea

When asked about his willingness to talk to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un during a press conference at Camp David over the Republican's 2018 agenda, Trump said "We have a very firm stance. But I absolutely would do that, I always believe in talking,".

On being asked if he would sit down to negotiate with the North Korean leader with no prerequisites, Trump said "That's not what I said, at all". His statement came amid mounting concerns that rising tensions on the Korean Peninsula could escalate into a military confrontation.

When asked about the upcoming Pyongchang Winter Olympics Trump said, "Look, right now they're talking Olympics. It's a start. It’s a big start. If I weren’t involved they wouldn't be talking about Olympics right now. They'd be doing no talking or it would be much more serious. He (Kim) knows I'm not messing around. Not even a little bit. Not even 1 per cent. He understands that."
