3,433 ATM fraud cases registered in past 3 yrs

New Delhi Jan 7 : The Union Government has said that "As many as 3,433 ATM fraud cases were registered in the past three years."

Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology in a reply to a question has said that "Alphons Kannanthanan told the Rajya Sabha that as per inputs provided by the Reserve Bank of India, frauds related to Credit card, ATM/Debit cards and Internet banking, with amounts greater or equal to Rs one lakh, were 3,433."

The Minister added that "In the past three years (2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17), maximum ATM frauds were registered in Maharashtra (1,003), followed by Haryana (619) and Tamil Nadu (584).Himachal Pradesh and Sikkim recorded the lowest number of such frauds (2) in the last three years."

He added that "the maximum number of ATM fraud cases were registered from ICICI Bank (835), followed by American Express Banking Corporation (484), HDFC Bank Ltd (456) and Citibank N A (342)."
