Due to GST, demonitisation a Haldwani transporter consumed poison

A Haldwani-based transporter consumed poison and then attended a public grievance redressal programme at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters in Dehradun on Saturday, where he collapsed and was rushed to a city hospital.

The man, identified as Prakash Pandey, said he took the step as his transport business was hit by demonetisation, GST and a slump in mining activities in the state.

Before reaching the BJP office in the afternoon, Pandey made a video clip in which he blame the state government for his financial collapse.

"System ne mujhe pareshan kar diya. Main karjdaar ho gaya hun GST aur notebandi lagu hone se. Mukhyamantri bilkul bekaar hai. Wok kisi ki sunene ko tyaar nahi hai (I am upset with the system and I am in debt due to GST and demonetisation. The chief minister is useless and is not listening to anyone)," he was quoted as saying.
