Police deny speech permission to Sambhaji Bhide, accused in Bhima Violence

Mumbai, Jan 07: After the violence erupted during Bhima-Koregaon anniversary, Police are keeping watch on ongoing meetings and speeches.

Right-wing leader Sambhaji Bhide who is allegedly the prime accused in Bhima-Koregaon violence was to give a public speech which was scheduled to take place in Parel this Sunday. but the police has refused permission for the speech and it had been postponed.

Before few days, police has even cancelled a student programme which was to be attended by Dalit leader Jignesh Mewani.

Bhide is the prime accused in the Bhima-Koregaon violence. Based on a complaint by social worker Anita Ravindra Salve, a member of the Bahujan Republican Socialist Party, the Pimpri police filed an FIR against him on Tuesday for conspiring and inciting violence.

"As we did not want trouble, we decided to not permit the organisers to conduct the program," said an officer.
