CPEC project to be expidited as Trump warns Pak

Islamabad Jan 6: The recent warnings and actions taken by US president Trump such as stopping the funds for Pakistan has made the country look towards China. Sources said that India's neighbor has already started negotiations with China and urged them to resume the works on the CPEC project.

Earlier there were reports that the China has stopped the works of the economic corridor because of alleged corruption but recently the Pakistani officials have met informally their counterpart and request them to complete the project as would improve the relations between two countries.

Recently China has also supported Pakistan and said that the country has achieved a lot in eliminating terrorists and opposed to US presidents remarks. Sources said that the country is ready to acquire another air base and seaport near Chabar port which was jointly developed by India, Iran, and Afghanistan to improve trade relations.

China feels that acquiring airbase would help them to strategically strengthen themselves to counter India. On the other side, Pakistan too hopes that CPEC would help them increase their military support with the funding offered by China.
